Protect Your Residents from Dangerous Swallowing Disorders with NDoscopy Mobile FEES

Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing - Greater NYC Area

Help your nursing facility residents avoid choking, pneumonia, and re-hospitalization while reducing your facility's costs and improving your residents' quality of life—all without them leaving your facility.

Did you know that Dysphagia (Swallowing Disorder) affects 52.7% of nursing facility residents?

Dysphagia can lead to dangerous complications like malnutrition, pneumonia,

re-hospitalization, and, sadly, even choking/mortality. That means over half of

your residents could be at risk.

And if you're like most facilities we see, perhaps you're facing these challenges:

Standard Treatment is Generalized and Less Effective

Swallowing is incredibly complex—it involves over 25 muscle groups and 5 cranial nerves, which means every resident's problem is different. When speech therapists (SLPs) can't see exactly what's happening inside the throat, they're forced to use generalized treatment approaches, making treatment less effective and potentially keeping residents on restricted diets longer than necessary.

Hospital Studies are Costly, Disruptive, and Less Accurate

Before FEES, residents needed hospital visits for Modified Barium Studies (MBS), costing $2,000+ with transport and radiation charges. These visits disrupt standard therapy sessions and expose them to illness and radiation. Plus, MBS studies only provides general, black-and-white images, and the hospital SLP can't recreate the swallowing problems that your facility SLPs observe daily, leading to less accurate outcomes.

Modified Diets are Expensive

and Frustrate Residents

Many facilities rely on mechanically-altered diets, like thickened liquids, costing $2,400 per resident annually. Yet studies show these aren't always safer—residents may actually be more likely to silently aspirate thickened liquids. Plus, when residents lose the enjoyment of eating foods they love, both they and their families become dissatisfied, often leading to poor reviews and facility transfers.

We understand.

Our passion is helping New York City nursing facilities solve these problems with our exceptional FEES Services.

The Happy Resident Protocol™

Our Approach to Exceptional FEES Services.

Here's how to get started!

Step 1 - Connect

Reach out to me (Nicole, founder) today, and I will personally connect you with your area's designated NDoscopy specialist to schedule an initial assessment with your facility speech therapist. Together, they will determine which patients are at risk and in need of a FEES.

Step 2 - Discover

Then, we'll perform the tests usually within 24-48 hours, during which the endoscopist and your speech therapist will work together to discover exactly where the swallowing complication is happening inside the resident’s throat and what is causing it.

Step 3 - Restore

Finally, the endoscopist will help your therapist put together a personalized, safe food plan for the time being, as well as a targeted therapy protocol with the goal of helping the resident potentially eat the foods they love again, restoring their enjoyment of everyday life.

Meet Our Founder, Nicole DePalma

I understand. Like many SLPs, I chose this work because I wanted to help people. When I was younger, my grandfather had a stroke, and seeing him struggle with communication impacted me and was the initial catalyst for me becoming an SLP myself.

With over 25 years of experience in New York’s nursing facilities and having performed more endoscopies than any other provider in the area, I am grateful to have built a team of practitioners who are also highly-skilled and share the same mission. Every technician on my team must have 5 or more years of experience, complete our rigorous training program, have an in-depth understanding of how to help your facility bill properly for maximum insurance coverage, and have the same passion for treating each resident with the utmost care.

Give us a call today. We look forward to serving you.
